The decision to clear Alberto Contador of doping allegations is a terrible decision and will lower the reputation of road cycling even more. I would imagine that the Spanish Cycling Federation find it a hard pill to swallow – to ban their sporting hero, which probably helped sway them.
The Director of the Tour de France should ban Contador from the race, whether the Spanish authorities have cleared him or not. What is the point of having banned substances in cycling if when you catch someone using them, you clear them? Pointless!
